Dow’s Riding Stable, (formerly Hay Stack Stables) is located at 625 Boulter Road, in Murillo, ON . They are locally owned and operated by Sarah Dow. Sarah has been riding for 17 years, and has been teaching children year round, for 5 years. Along with giving horse back riding lessons and trail rides she competes in gymkhanas, (which are timed events on horse back. i.e. barrel racing) and horse shows. She really enjoys horses and loves teaching kids and adults how to ride.
Dow’s Riding Stable is a great place to relax and have fun! The stables are for all ages, and the services are geared towards your comfort level and abilities.
We offer many services including: horseback riding lessons, trail rides, winter/summer camps, hay rides, birthday parties, cabin rentals, horse clinics, boarding and training, Horse Show/Gymkhana events, as well as a Youth Horse Club.
Horseback riding lessons are offered in both Western and English riding styles.
In addition to the riding lesson itself, our instructor will teach you how to feed, groom and care for a horse; everything involved in total horsemanship.
Dow’s Riding Stable is located on 100 acres of land. You can explore the land by going on a guided trail ride (or a hay ride) with an instructor. Each trail is different and will be selected based on your skill level/age, and the length of time you have chosen.
Our horse camps are for youth aged students who are horse crazy and want a fun and exciting experience. All campers are assigned a horse when they arrive and learn how to feed, groom and ride their horse as well as participating in planned activities.
During the summer camps, there is the option of overnight camping as well (females only).
The cabins are also available for rent for a night or weekend. (Family camping trip, birthday party, or girl’s night) The rental is complete with a bonfire, Smores goody basket, and a light breakfast. You can also add on a hay ride, etc. at the time of booking.
We have just introduced our NEW Basic and Deluxe Birthday Party Packages! The activities you can choose from are: Hay rides, Pony rides, Riding lessons, Trail rides, Advanced Rider (games played while on horseback), and a slumber party. The packages can be found on our website for all the details!
Horse Clinics are demonstrations given by our instructor in both a classroom and riding lesson setting. The clinics cover a variety of topics including how to care for your horse and first aid for your horse. The dates and times for these clinics can be found on our website under calendar of events.

Dow’s Riding Stable hosts Horse Shows and Gymkhana’s to give riders the chance to compete with their peers in a pressure-free/fun filled environment. These events are a great way for riders to boost their confidence!
Our Youth Club is for youth aged children who love horses, the outdoors, and having fun! Members of the club will learn about different topics once a month at our meetings, be invited to our fun days and special events and receive a monthly newsletter containing horse facts, special dates and prices. Anyone is welcome to join our youth club! Just call or check out the website for more details!
